Youth & Children

We love children and have many activities for them.

Worship

At Union Avenue UMC, we love to worship alongside our kids! We love children, and we welcome wiggles and noises. We believe that the best way for kids to learn to worship God is to worship with their families. Youth join yoga churchActivity bags are available in the back of the sanctuary for little ones, and we have children’s bulletins with activities for older children.

If you need to take your little one out, there are rocking chairs in the gathering space connected to the sanctuary. An unstaffed nursery is also available if needed.

Towards the beginning of the service children ages three through fourth grade are welcome to come forward to enjoy a brief children’s message.

Older children, youth (grades 6-12), and their parents are also welcome to join us for Yoga Church every third Friday of the month at 6:30 PM in the back of the worship space.

Celebrate Wonder

Children’s Sunday School

On Sunday mornings, children from age 5 through 5th grade meet on the third floor for Children’s Sunday School from 9 – 9:30 AM. We learn Bible stories, reflect on how to live out God’s love in our daily lives, and enjoy crafts & games utilizing the Celebrate Wonder All Ages Curriculum. Celebrate Wonder engages children’s natural sense of curiosity to help them understand God’s love. It creates a safe environment for kids to ask big questions – helping them explore the Bible in ways that feed their imagination and encourage creativity. Learn more about Celebrate Wonder here.

All our Sunday School volunteer leaders have been background checked and trained in our Safe Sanctuaries child & vulnerable persons protection policy. On your first visit, parents will be asked to fill out a brief contact & permission form. During Children’s Sunday School, parents and older siblings are welcome to enjoy coffee, tea & donuts downstairs in the Fellowship Hall.

Youth Group

Our youth group for students in grades 6 – 12 meets twice a month. We study scripture, reflect on how to live God’s love in our daily lives, enjoy age-appropriate games and activities, and participate in occasional service projects. For an up-to-date schedule of youth group events, please contact the church office (office@unionavenueumc.org). Our youth group is led by Pastor Becky, as well as adult volunteers who have all been background checked and trained in our Safe Sanctuaries child & vulnerable persons protection policy.
